Fate And Destiny :: essays research papers
Fate and DestinyIn the beginning a man and a woman were born. They married each otherand lived a life that was filled with much happiness and joy. One day a terrible motorcar chance occurred that killed them both. In this world we live in we faceeveryday choices. Maybe these people did not choose to die, but they maybe choseto drive in the car that day. Was what happened to them an accident or a badtwist of fate that was their need? Were these two wonderful peoplepredestined to die at that moment or was it just an accident or did they justmake a bad choice to drive in a car that day?It is my belief that we argon here for some purpose. Some meaningful somenot. Each of us has our own opinion whether that is so. Fate is a part of thisworld. In mythology fate/destiny is often looked upon for focusing, propheciesmade concerning fate often come true, and even the gods in mythology respecttheir own destiny. In mythology, when people were facing hard times they visited temples ofguidance on what they were destined to do. Like in the story of Cupid and Psyche.Psyches parents went to seek an oracle (in Apollos temple) for advice on whatto do with her. The oracle directed Psyche in the right path of her fate orgave a hint to what was destined to happen anyway. Also, in the Odyssey whereOdysseus visits Hades to see an old blind dead soothsayer to find extinct what heshould do in order to get home. Last is the destiny of Oedipus who seeks help tomake his country a better place, only to find step up what his real destiny was.A strange topic happened in all of these different prophecies anddestines of all these gods/humans. They all came true. All of them. For instance,it was said that it would take Odysseus ten geezerhood to return home. Low and behold,he came back in ten years. Halitherses who warned the suitors of their owndestiny if they dont metamorphose. Of course they do not listen they do not changetheir ways and end up meeting their ultimate demise. And we d ont want to forgetabout the fate of Oedipus whose destiny was to kill his father and marry hismother. Sad thing is that it came true.In the mythological tale of Oedipus the main character tries to avoidhis destiny. In the end however that did not work.
